Heart Smart Challenges

The 30-day Heart Smart Challenge Program is currently in development. The anticipated release date and Heart Smart Challenge sign-ups is August 11, 2014.

Get excited!

Phase I

This 30-day Phase I Heart Smart Challenge can be repeated as many times as desired.

  • Beginning measures of health recorded
  • Two week meal plan complete with grocery list and recipes provided
  • Four workshops (one per week) provided on food, nutrition, or behavior change strategies/challenges and as a check in on progress and to make any needed adjustments to meal plan
  • Ending measures of health recorded

The basic meal plan is designed to meet all the requirements for heart healthy eating; but the challenge can focus on one aspect for the challenge participants to really push themselves on. Choose weight loss, low-sodium, high-fiber, the right fats, added sugars, additives, or another topic for your group’s one-time challenge or choose the same or a new challenge for every month your group continues the challenges.

Phase II

This 30-day Phase II Program can be repeated as many times as desired. Participants must have successfully completed at least one Phase I Heart Smart Challenge to be eligible for Phase II.

  • Beginning measures of health recorded
  • Workshop on learning to design your own Heart Smart meal plan
  • Mid-challenge check-in and meal plan review
  • Ending measures of health recorded

My goal is to teach you how to do your own meal planning and that is why continuing on to Phase II is highly recommended.

Following a meal plan written by a dietitian (or any other form of a “diet”) will only work for you in the short-term. Many of my clients want a short-term meal plan to jump start their health journey while they figure out how to create their own lifestyle nutrition plan (which may or may not be a structured meal plan!).

The Heart Smart Challenge Program is designed to lead you first through the basics of heart healthy eating and weight management (including weight loss) and then to help you develop the skills and strategies you need to face your challenges and learn to follow your own eating plan. This type of focus will move you towards your health goals while allowing for the flexibility that is needed when “life happens.”

I hope you will join me on this journey!
