I’m an expert on heart-healthy, plant-based (vegetarian/vegan), clean-eating, whole-food, low-sodium, high-fiber, low-added-sugar, delicious and easy food. As a heart attack survivor, my passion and expertise is heart-healthy nutrition. I am also a Health at Every Size (HAES®) dietitian who believes in a non-diet approach, body positivity, and that you can be healthy (or not!) no matter your body size.

  1. Thanks! Yes… it has been difficult. And the hardest part has been convincing my friends that it’s not their cooking but the eggs and milk they put into their foods is the reason I can’t eat some of the things they cook. And to add to that my grandmother makes homemade banana bread with milk and eggs in it; I don’t have the heart to tell her I can’t eat it, so I just wrap it up and take it home.

      • You’re welcome! About a year ago, I found out that I was allergic to eggs and milk– and that of course drove me away from most processed foods. So I basically started eating foods that I either grew or packaged foods with few ingredients.

      • That sounds like a challenge – I’m sure you discovered that that eggs and milk are in a lot of foods/products! It sounds like you rose to that challenge though! I bet it feels good to know that you can change your eating habits and feel better. I’m a big believer in eating clean, minimally processed foods. Way to go!
